Under Water

I think we have all felt like we’re under water from time to time. Sometimes, it’s stress or feeling overwhelmed. Sometimes, it’s the dull cold feeling of depression. I’m not a terribly great swimmer, so I can imagine that causing me quite a bit of distress.

I’m curious, when have you felt like you were under water and why? (Leave a comment!)

I used water color on this one. I have several thin rectangular shaped watercolor sketchbooks and I love them! There’s something about the shape that feels constraining and lends itself well to subject matter that wants to break forth, or bust through boundaries. In other words, it’s easier to make a painting feel that way when the container is small.

Perhaps that says something about me. I would argue, it’s absolutely true that I don’t like to be contained or restricted, but I’m also impatient and can struggle with filling the space of a bigger canvas. Artist problems. : )
